They've been around for quite a while. I've had a Zotac GTX 970 for about a year and a half and it's still running great. I don't think it's worth paying $50 extra for a different brand with similar specs.

Guess they should just go ahead and remove the word 'hot' from the "hot deals forum".

Or maybe most people just don't think ~6% is a 'hot' deal?

More like on the cold side of lukewarm. And not ungrateful btw, just calling this deal as we see it.

Some free advice from someone who's spent a lot of money on video cards over the years:

If you're buying nVidia, go with EVGA
If you're buying AMD/ATI go with Sapphire

Sapphire? Are they very reliable? I usually buy the cheapest one I can find (eg the cheapest GTX970) and I've been doing that for a few years now without any failures. I didn't realize brands matter (unless overclocking)

Sure, but no need to be shitty about it. Especially when the definition of "hot" is pretty subjective for a brand new product, and always has been.

The degree to which a deal is hot or not is subjective. With the 1070 non-FE, it seems the consensus is not hot if the price is not at the MSRP 379 USD.

High demand and low supply mean that a deal like that just doesn't exist (and to my knowledge has never existed) for the 1070. I'll have to wait impatiently for some competition to exist at the mid-upper tier, but who knows when the RX 490 ("Vega") will come into existence.
