[Canada Computers] NETGEAR XR500 Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router $280

Lowest price ever. Still pricey and not for everyone. For those who game, this has nice QoS controls.

This is like an R7800 (hard to get in Canada and overall the best router at any price) (which is itself like the highest-end Orbi) with different software. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a good stable high performance access point! Get it while it's hot!

Most routers have buggy software or are low-performance, especially the new ones. Don't get fooled into thinking that a more expensive or newer router is better! There's no better time to buy a router than when an old reliable one is on sale!

I have the NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Router (R8000), which drops connection every once in a while. Is this considered an upgrade? And if so, is it worth it?
Thanks

With a 30$ off 300$ coupon the Asus Rog RT-AC5300 is 350$ at Staples with triple band, link aggregation and 8 ports.

Got one yesterday from there, well see if there is any diff from my old ac66u...

Having used both a Netgear and Asus router, I would stick with Netgear.
My AC86U died on me at less than a year (2.4Ghz crapped out) and luckily I still had my R7000 as a backup, while waiting for Asus to send me a replacement.

I've actually heard the opposite. I'm the "IT" in my family we've all been using Asus routers for over 10 years now, not a single failed router thus far. And it's been used with home servers, heavy wifi traffic, home automation, gaming, streaming...

Could be specific to the AC86U, as there are many other reports of similar failures.
Thankfully the RMA process went fairly smooth, otherwise I would not recommend Asus at all.

The best router available is the nighthawk X6S. It's only $20 more than this one at best buy when on sale and totally worth it.

I can say I've had both (2-3 Asus and 1 Netgear, current) and they are both good. I would not hesitate with either...

Even Though I game, (Xbox, Switch, Gaming laptop) and lots of Netflix, phones and tablets, my Netgear R7000 is serving me well for the $120 I paid for it on sale... hard to justify the jump to this...

Yes i make sure i stay up-to-date. The connection drops are mostly smartphone related so it could also be something else... But thanks for the info, I'll stick with it longer then :)

Which signal? 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ dropping?
