Canada computers "Price Protection"

I bought $360 PSU few days ago, Now its on sale for $300. I visited their customer service today asked nicely for price protection (if they lower price of product within 14days of purchase they will gladly refund the difference) however their customer manager said
"we can't refund the difference because this is discounted price, Price protection only applied when we permanently lower the price." What a joke!!

How you guys feel when buy something expensive stuff and next day, it is 20% discounted.

Isn't this what "Price protection" for?

Did you open the power supply or is it unopened?

They are either misinformed or lying to you. If what the manager told you was true then that's all they would need to put on the website instead of : *Price protection does not apply to promotional prices such as limited time offers, close-outs, liquidations, clearance offers, instant rebates, mail-in rebates, advertising errors or misprints, special education prices, coupons, etc.
Call them and talk to a different person. If they tell you the same thing call HQ or try another location (call first).

Call head office and explain to them. I am sure they will straighten it out.

I contacted their online customer service by emailing and this is the answer from them.

"/Hi, thanks for reaching out, my name is Anna .

We hope you're doing well today!

We're sorry to informed you that we're unable to do price protection as the said item was on "instant rebate" which is excluded with the price protection policy.

*Price protection does not apply to promotional prices such as limited time offers, close-outs, liquidations, clearance offers, instant rebates, mail-in rebates, advertising errors or misprints, special education prices, coupons, etc.

We appreciate your understanding./"

Apparently my item is under "instant rebate" discount.

And I notice all their red colored priced items are under instant rebate discount.

Really weird so price reductions are not considered under price protection? Makes no sense. What I would do is check what the return policy for power supplies are, buy a new one at the reduced price and return that one at the $360 price.

Since it's already installed and you can no longer return it. I have a suggestion but make sure to carefully read up on there return policy, so you could buy another one at the Sale Price and then use your old Receipt to Return the new one that you just bought

I don't think this is going to work for serialized item. S/N already written on the receipt.

It wasn't denied based on a price reduction. It was denied because the PSU was on an instant rebate which is listed under the exclusions. The store manager gave the OP the wrong reason for the denial but the online customer service told him the correct one.

Both store manager and online customer service were right. All their discounted prices are after instant rebated prices at least for now.

So if I buy over $2000 desktop or laptop and I open the box next day price go down by $500, Instant rebate kicked in.

They have policy to protect customer rights but does not apply to customer at least for now.

They pulled some excuse when I tried to get price protection on something I bought a few days before. Fool me once.....the saying goes.

Basically, if you assume anything you buy a CC is final sale, you will have a more stress free life.

Looks like CC is misleading their price protection practice. You could try going on social media with chat logs and such. If CC cares about their image, they might contact you and give you a refund.
