Its decent but you could always get a 14tb mybook and shuck the drive at a cheaper price when it goes on sale.

Haven't shuck drives lately but to my knowledge WD put modified RED drive (5200 rpm instead) in high capacity mybook.

This would barely even qualify as a lukewarm deal considering the TB/$ imo.

So do you have better options for 14 TB or 16 TB +?

There are plenty wd reds and seagate ironwolf/barracuda/exos internal and external drives (shuck) that are at or near $20/TB. Slightly Smiling Face

I call BS on that, especially for internal. Not since Chia. Not in larger sizes anyway ( > 8 TB ).

Nope. Totally true. I bought a 10TB external Seagate last year for $199.99 - shucked it - and an Exos was inside.

See this thread: best-buy-199-99-seagate-expansion-10tb- ... 0-2417929/

Edit: Yep I was wrong. I totally overlooked the Chia part. My buy was well before these shenanigans. I'm sure that the shucking lottery will continue soon enough, though!

It’s a decent price if you need full warranty and don’t want to shuck. I have two 10TB ones that I shucked and love them.

There was quite literally 10TB WD red plus selling for 210CAD on canada computers and 220CAD on amazon. Shucking external drives is a cheaper alternative than that as well.

Hey I'm new to shucking and to RFD. Can you please provide me links?

I've been scouring the net for external drives and stuff but the cheapest is bestbuy Seagate external 10 tb for $280, yesterday. Thanks

Edit: Just saw that same Seagate external for $233 on CC&E. Might get 1

Try to keep an eye on r/bapcsalescanada for HDD deals. Seagate and WD have sold several external hdd skus at $20 to 22CAD/TB this year alone.

All you guys taking about deals and sales. That was BEFORE Chia. You're not going to see those prices now or in the foreseeable future!

Those 10tb Red at CC is old stock being cleared out. Most stores had none. You couldn't order online. So not a deal most could get.

I'd love to get some cheap WD Red or Ironwolf Pro 8 or 10 TB NAS drives, but i can't seem to find anywhere.
