I'm guessing DRAM is a pipe dream here?

[...]

I would wait for an established make DRAM NVMe SSD to go on sale again.

It truly truly is a crime that laptop/phone manufacturers are allowed to solder on 128/256/512gb hard drives and sell for $1k+ when 1tb costs $80. Why do they even exist?

So anti-consumer.

I wouldn't trust entirely that webpage. De other hardware may work

PCI-Express Gen3x4 SSDs do not work in the PS5

Linus installed the PCIe Gen3 drive, got the incompatible message and then swapped the Gen3 for a Gen4 drive

9:11 What happens if we install an incompatible drive?

NASCompares got the same message when they tried the PCIe Gen3 Samsung 970 EVO Plus

The Kingston A2000 has DRAM and was at a slightly lower price ($85 I think?). This drive does not have DRAM, so the A2000 is better.

Fewer parts to procure, lower costs to make, higher costs to replace (if it breaks) - wins for them.
