I am considering buying a shield, so my question is: is it worth it?
I bought a 4k China box hated it, bought a Shield.

Then I bought another one because I loved the first one so much, now I have two.

I named one of them Brooke.

Huge difference with IPTV? How so I had the 1st generation and didn't see much of a change
First generation of what? Sorry I'm talking about Chinese box compared to the shield... I've never had the first generation of the Shield. I still have my 4gig China box just sitting there collecting dust, prob won't go back

I am waiting for Black Friday to get Shield Pro.

I am primarily interested in 4K and h265 streaming from my LAN as well as Netflix and Amazon. Tried 2 of the latest generation Amazon boxes advertised as 4K and hevc compatible and IT WAS A JOKE.

Does Shield play 4K and H265 encoded files without problem?

I intend to get this later today and return it if I find a better deal somewhere else over the next couple of weeks

This is what you want. !
If you don't need the gamepad might find it cheaper.

Will an XBox One controller work instead of the gamepad?

Check their return policy... They will probably charge you a restocking fee

what are you guys using the Shield TV for that the Mi Box cannot do? I have both, and the shield is slightly faster of course, but neither have any problems playing any media i throw at them. And i'm often doing 50gb 4k hdr files via plex.

I find the MiBox eats frames (like you can see some jittering once in a while, still watchable but noticeable) when you use I high qual video files. I'll see if the Shield fixes that issue. I stream using Emby 40GB 1080p files.
Suppose to get my Shield today from Amazon, got it at 199$, didn't need the game controller since I have an old PS3...

Is it easy to pair PS3 controllers? That's a good idea.

Also, why are you using Emby instead of plex?
