PS5 update has kind of skewed inventory and prices. Look at the 2tb non heatsink version on sale versus heatsink which is backordered everywhere.

I think Samsung is getting heatsink variants on their 980 Pro later this year as well. Good to see gen4 prices drop like crazy for 1tb though which is great for the majority of people for laptops and whatnot.

I think you can purchase a heatsink off amazon and use it on your ssd

I know. But I'd rather have a heatsink designed by the manufacturer of the SSD rather than a third party. Especially at this price.

I think Sabrent also developed an SSD with a heatsink that replaces even Sony's generic silver cover for the best heat dissipation too.

I’m opposite, rather have a a third party heatsink that I know I can take on and off in case I ever decide to use it for something else. I get that this might just be my specific use case though. Just FYI though, the SN850 heatsink is not meant to be removed if you ever decide to do so and you might break it removing it.

Not at all, it’s probably the best consumer ssd drive. Gen 4 drives have a good price premium tho for speed most users can’t see the benefits of.

Is it worth getting a ssd with a heatsink if your mobo already has a built in heatsink for SSD drives?

All of these SSD sales are a good sign for black Friday deals (I hope).
Completely anecdotal, and no way of proving unfortunately, but a friend who works at Best Buy said cost on this drive was $200 (as of Sep 2021 - back when BB had it on sale for $229).
If you don't like Canada Computers as a retailer, I'm sure you could still price match at BB.

CC has had a bad rep over the past year or so due to their scalping of GPUs and other shady retail practices.

is this drive only compatible for the PS5? Can we use it for Xbox Series X?
if you don't ask, the answer is always NO!
