_____
For an optimal Freedom network experience, you must have a phone that supports both LTE Band 13 and VoLTE on Freedom.
Otherwise, you may encounter dropped or missed calls/messages in fringe coverage or poor signal conditions.
On Freedom working VoLTE is required to access the 700MHz 'Extended Range LTE' Band 13.
You know VoLTE is enabled and active if your phone stays on LTE during a call.
[troubleshooting VoLTE]

For best performance on Nationwide partner networks, Freedom recommends a phone that is VoLTE Roaming compatible.
Service Upgrades - see Nationwide FAQ

_____
With WiFi Calling, you can use your phone for calls and texts wherever you have WiFi connectivity - Nationwide, in poor cell signal locations, anywhere in the world - as if at home on the Freedom network.
To register for WiFi Calling tap the set-up link in your device Call settings, or go to:
https://myaccount.freedommobile.ca/dashboard/wifi-registration
You also need to enable WiFi Calling on the device; you can set either the Mobile network or WiFi to have priority for calls.

Game is on, since videotron took over freedom.

$50 you get 40GB LTE data in Canada and US, no more freedom vs nationwide.

Also seem to be eligible for hardware activation, so you get about $300 discount/credit towards signing up a 2 yr contract on good phones (e.g. iPhone 14)

This is first time I saw such a large data bucket beyond freedom network, all 40GB is usable outside freedom network (I guess still subject to their fair usage policy).

I am gonna expect nothing but more good deals coming soon, especially during BTS and BF.

Finally may be time to ditch my grandfather plan. I was holding out for my few roaming features included with mine considering I live in a border city. I'll have to look into that.

Well done Videotron.

Probably not worth giving my Rogers Black Friday plan up for, but wow. Competition, eh.

This is actually $55 (with digital discount) but still a great plan

Now million dollar question is does it still stack with those of us on F&F codes
Koodo $45 60GB 5G + Unlimited Long Distance Perk (28 Countries)
Public $120 180GB + Canada Wide (90 Day plan; less rewards = $20 per month)
Freedom $35 North America Wide + 20GB + 1GB Roaming

The 40GB on nationwide means you can be roaming on partner networks and still have full 40GB available. Typically only a small fraction of the total data is available on nationwide.

The full 40GB also available in the US is an amazing deal.

Old plans are not $60+ pre-discount so curious why new plans needed to be?

I was assuming change plan code either still works or drops off but why would code itself change?

Anyone every run a foul of this in their usage policy? I'm very tempted by the plan but will be spending a increasing amounts of time not on the Freedom proper network.

"Plans that have a single allotment of combined Freedom Network, Nationwide Network, and U.S. roaming data
Our services and rate plans are designed for you to use predominantly on the Freedom Network. If more than 25% of your voice, text
or data usage over consecutive billing cycles is not on the Freedom Network, we may terminate your service or restrict your ability to
receive service on our third party service provider’s networks."

Just need one of the big 3 to match now, I’ll be all over this.

EDIT Aug 5, 2023: I was able to secure Telus $60/60GB Plan eligible for Multi line discount = $45/60GB Canada-USA. If it wasn’t for freedom, we would never see such plans.
Freedom line lives on with my mother, and with recent improvements (5G, Nationwide seamless roaming improvement etc), will serve her well for a long time to come at $27.50/month for the Everywhere 50 Plan with 20GB + 1GB US Roaming.
