Just bring it to customer service - might not even need a receipt - they tell you to go grab a new one. Done several times before for different things.

With Mastercraft lifetime hand tools, walk in, no receipt needed, show them the broken tool, they'll send you to get a new one from the shelves, sign a piece of paper, walk out (under 10 min end to end). Most Mastercraft powertools are 3 year warranties now, those require the receipt, but I've never been asked for hand tools.

If they don't carry the exact product anymore they've been fairly generous with giving me a better-than-I-had replacement. I need to get a drill bit replaced from a hole saw kit, it'll be interesting how they handle it as the bit isn't sold separately, they might just give me a new kit. I normally don't hold them at fault for a busted drill bit but this one shattered into 3 pieces on the first use and it's specific to the hole saw kit so I can just use any old replacement bit.

It's rare the impact head breaks but I have seen guys who have broken off a piece of the claw either through dropping it on a rock or just wear and tear.

on another note.....I've broken $100 hammers before......if you are buying them for your workshop then you will be fine.....if you buy a $3 "mastercrap" hammer for construction use, you will get laughed off the jobsite

We have a cheap Jobmate (which my wife had before we met) where the head and handle are not one piece. I only use it for small jobs, because the head comes off the handle and/or twists with heavier use.
