OEM dealer filters are made by like one of 5 companies. From the top of my head I can name a few:
1. Subaru OEM made by K&N
2. Toyota OEM made by Denso
3. NAPA made by WIX
4. VW OEM by MANN or MAHLE
5. BMW OEM by MANN
6. Honda OEM by Filtech
etc...
The Mobil1 is made by K&N and it's really nothing special despite the high price tag. It say "up to 24000km or 1 year," which is lawsuit defying wording.
If you want a great filter, concensus on BITOG, get a WIX.

Deals are still going, I wonder if I should stock up to my 4th jug for this year with mail-in rebate.

Just a little bit of help needed. When I am on the Canadian Tire app and I choose the Ultra Platinum - there are 3 different kinds (only specifying differences being the numbers option 1 is 0289362; option 2 is 0289364; and so on. Is there a legend to help navigate the correct options? I have a 2010 Rav4.

Buy whatever is correct oil weight for your vehicle. This oil on sale only comes in 3 weights. 5W30, 5W20 and 0W20. The way it is on the website drop down, 5W30 is first, 5W20 is 2nd and so on.penner5a wrote: ↑ Just a little bit of help needed. I believe the sale is good for all oil grades in store. The last time I went in they had all other grades including *w30 and *w40, definitely more than the 3 shown on the web site.

I know the oil won’t go bad, but will the properties break down if it sits on the shelf 2 or 3 years before putting it in the car?

most oil companies will state their oil has a shelf life of 5 years (unopened bottles) if stored correctly (eg. at consistent room temperature, no exposure to sun).
if it's been sitting on the shelf for years i'd just shake it really well before using.

Old doesn't equate to high mileage. My 2010 STI has 72,000kms.
To bumbum, 5w30 PP would be fine for your car. A lot of STI owners run 5w40 or 0w40 as it is a bit thicker for the turbo to beat on.
But 5w30 is spec and as long as you don't have any power upgrades or any reason to you don't have to go any thicker.

I’ve been using this in my 2009 STI since I got it at around 50K. It’s been working well and I’d recommend it.yourdoingtoomuch wrote: ↑ That's a very old car, you should put in high mileage oil.
