[Canadian Tire] 90% off Honeywell T5 touchscreen thermostat [YMMV]

Found this one while browsing for a thermostat.

Checked price in store and it's 12.95.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for baseboard heating so I'm leaving empty handed.

Terrebonne, QC. At least ten boxes left.

Regular price is 114.99 and the price should be 89.95 but they typed that as the discounted%

It’s on clearance for 39.99 at my local Canadian Tire, so might not be price error.

I have this, it’s junk, don’t get it but ymmv, everyone else I know that has it echos the same statement

Geofencing never works, screen is burning out, occasionally loses connection to wifi, app doesn’t communicate to the device properly

Screen burning out is brutal; that's not good. However, I can't imagine it owuld be worse than my $50 Honeywell LCD WiFi thermostat, and that thing was rock solid. Sucks its so bad, because this looks like the perfect thermostat for me.

The fact it’s discounted to 90% off should tell you all you need to know about it

I've had one for about 2 years. It works fine. The screen is not burning out. No problem with the app. I don't think it's junk, so I guess you don't know me. :)

It does lose connection more than it should, and its WiFi firmware doesn't reconnect properly when it loses connection. You have to refresh the connected devices list from your router to give it a kick. Turning WiFi off and on on the thermostat doesn't do it. That's an annoying defect, but frankly I think every one of my 50+ pieces of home automation gear has one or more such defects. That's the state of careless product testing in the home automation market these days. Can't single out Honeywell or the T5 product as noticeably worse than others.

I don't use geofencing. It's unreliable in every incarnation.

I had this for three years, it's not worth the headache even if you get PAID to take it! Way too many technical glitches, account issues, etc. Stick to ecobee, nest, or even just a standard thermostat.

Hm... Does it even have WiFi and app control? The product page does not specify it.
