[Canadian Tire] [CT] Mastercraft Security Bit Set - 61 pieces - 12.24$

The MasterCraft Security Bits set is currently down to 12.24$
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mast ... 3781p.html

This kit contains bits for all those weird and frustrating security screws manufacturers like to put on their products.
For the price it's definitly worth grabbing one in case you ever need it.

I always wondered why these things are supposed to be "security bits", if anyone can buy them.

I often times find when I need to use these bits, the screw is deep in a hole that these fat bits don't fit in.

I haven't seen these before, what kind of security products would them? Safes and locks? Thanks.

I still have this set sitting in the tool chest... unopned. Great deal.

See the bits to hold the urine bowl in the men's room? You will need this...

LOL just kidding.

If you have to ask, chances are you don't need them.

They're for tamper proof screws. You'll find them in public installations where theft and vandalism are more likely to happen.

I don’t have use for it now, but for the price, just tempted to get it in case I ever need it in the future, I buy lot of things I don’t need, my wife always ask when you going to use it and I say sometime in the future, most of the stuff still in it’s original packaging, lol

Update: went across street from work to buy it, looks pretty interesting, now going look around house to see where I can potentially use it, I know the torx might be useful for my car

Common on some small and medium appliances where they don't want you to open them up and try to fix them yourself.

A lot of electronics use them, like Xbox controllers.

Many tools require these bits for disassembly.
I used a similar set just two days ago: https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/ ... -p8313967e.

The Mastercraft set in this thread appears to be a better choice, since it provides the steel specification and some more useful bits. If you like to repair things, or are curious why something wasn't meant to be opened, these can be invaluable.

I bought a new drill but dont have many bits for it. Does this set have the usual bits along with all the unnatural ones or should i go with the dewalt set that is mentioned in the other thread?

Definitly get the DeWalt set, it's my main go-to set and I love it. I don't bother using my other regular sets for regular drill/impact work.

The security set is a side kit for specialized bolts.

Lol you are not kidding, I also see this very frequently in Uninals separators or stalls. I wonder why though

You need these to work on some cars. I had to buy this kind of screwdriver just to change filters on an Audi.
