[Canadian Tire] Dewalt DWS779 Mitre Saw - $400 (PM for $360)

Normally sells for $500 on Amazon (also on sale at Amazon - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01ESCU5WS/ref ... JAE3XS8SBH)

- Possible PM at Lowes/home depot for $360.

- I can't get the product link to open up on home depot for some reason

- Lowes link (https://www.lowes.ca/product/mitre-saws ... saw-819980)

Man I've been eyeing a 12" Miter Saw for the longest time... Can someone check if HomeDepot will price match this? I don't even bother with Lowes because they always put up a fight

Can always try online chat and see if it's in their system. They usually just ask for the model number or sku.

Looks like the White Rock Canadian Tire store has one in stock for $399. If someone wants it right away.

Amazing saw, happy to have got it at the regular price of 500. At 400 it's a great price for a great product.

+1 on that. HD used to be good, they drop the ball a lot lately on service, deals, price matching & quality.
nice saw btw. Was looking at it but it was way to big for me. The missing light/led/whatever don't matter much when cutting, very easy to align one of these without it.

Very good saw. I have the dws780 version which is basically the same saw besides the led blade light that the dws780 has.

Good deal for sure.

If you can get this for $360 buy it. Great saw, I’ve had it for years and love it.

Only cons:
12 inch blades are more expensive if you’re in the habit of destroying yours.
VERY heavy to lug around, technically portable but I don’t enjoy it
No laser line….if you’re someone who likes/needs this

I would buy this again

Might even be worth it to just buy from Canadian tire. They have 30x the points if you are a card member and mostly asways in the app i get offers for money off (example spend $80 get $10off)

This saw is fantastic. I have it attached to a higher end rigid stand. It's true it's heavy and without that stand on wheels it would not have been enjoyable.

Used this saw extensively on completing our house, pretty much everything except the rough framing. Deck, flooring, trim, railings, etc. Would buy again no questions asked.

Great saw (I own the 780 model too) - but the greatest thing about the 780 to this is that XPS system (the cut positioning). To this day I think its one of the best cut systems available and I would strongly suggest you go for a model with that on it rather than this one. I'm sure you would attest to it being well worth the money.

FWIW I think $400 for this is a good deal, but not great - and if you experienced that XPS system you wouldn't want anything else.

Great price for this saw! Please do note moving it around takes some effort.

I picked up the Bosch gcmsd12 for $484+tax several weeks ago.

Anyone with experience using both saws have any preference?

I don't have experience with the Bosch besides playing with it in the store. I liked the more compact sliding mechanism but was put off by the 1 year warranty @ the price. Also I heard some reviews saying that the Bosch sliding mechanism is prone to vibrations and could do a less precise cut. For me it would not have mattered at all since precise cuts are done either with a expensive table saw or a festool miter saw.
Both are quality saws, depends what you are looking for.

Denied price beat at Lowes.ca through chat as they said it was a limited time offer at Canadian Tire and not a sale price somehow

I had this saw and it's great. Ended up retrofitting the XPS light. Lots of guides online, I bought the OEM parts and it was basically the 780. I prefer this saw over the Bosch GCM12SD, Bosch is great especially if you are working in a tight space, but DeWalt for me was a more accurate saw (only matters if you are making long beveled cuts), built like a tank, metal detent plate vs plastic on the Bosch. Better preset angles.

I tried looking for the light kit a while back but couldn't find it in Canada. Any idea where you got it from?

I got it directly from Dewalt. Picked it up from the Mississauga warehouse. It was a few years ago but 780 is still available so you should be able to get the parts.
