[Canadian Tire] Greenworks 22-in 60V Cordless Snowblower - $699 (reg $999)

Seems like a decent deal on a battery-powered snow blower. Gets pretty good reviews.

From CanadianTire.ca
- Greenworks 2x60V Cordless Snowblower is powered by (2x) 60V 4Ah lithium-ion batteries that is compatible across the entire 60V Greenworks program
- Built with a high-efficiency brushless motor and a 22" (55.8 cm) wide intake
- Easily adjust the auger to control how far the snow is thrown for maximum control
- A robust handle-mounted chute-adjustment lever puts the user in control when re-directing the snow up to 180˚ from side to side
- 4 year warrant

Not sure how much stock there is out there, but I was able to find multiple stores with this in stock in Calgary.

This is not that good a price except that there are 2 batteries. 80v ones were reported around 400-500 just a few weeks ago

This one uses 2 x 60v batteries at the same time I think. Also, it seems to be heavier duty than the 20" single 80v battery one, which I have. Mine has these two thin metal skid shoes that broke within 5 snowfalls, and getting replacements from Greenworks was a PITA. I ended up buying generic skid shoes and modified them to work. This 60v one has skid shoes that look much thicker and easier to find replacement.

Mine struggles a bit with wet snow, but really only blows well when blowing straight.

The Greenworks 80v 22-in blower retails for $800, but has one battery. Would've been great to get that onsale for $400, but I couldn't find any of the 80v instock anywhere and my time machine is on the fritz (again!)

Sounds like you have a 60V version. A 80V would fix the issue.

Would a 80v single battery be better than this 60v with two batteries?

I saw a 20” 80V kit at my local Rona $299 yesterday on clearance but it had a plastic rotating blade, debating on running there and grabbing it tonight.

The thing that scares me off of buying any battery powered snow blower is wondering what do I do when they stop making the batteries for it? My last snow blower was made in the mid eighties and parts have always been easy to find, and it has always run on gasoline which you can get anywhere and everywhere 24/7. When this model gets phased out for the 100 volt model, or the 2.0, and the batteries are phased out, the clock starts ticking on how long until this thing goes to the landfill. I am all for going green, but does the extra waste of this ticking timebomb get offset by not burning a few jerry cans of gasoline a year?

Yeah, I considered that as well.

I actually put that question to a rep on their toll-free line before I bought, as I wanted to make sure it wasn’t on sale due to being disco’d.

She assured me that their entire line of 60v tools, and associated batteries, will be around for a long time. You can imagine the uproar if people bought in hard (mower, trimmer, snow blower, etc) to either their 40, 60 or 80v line of tools only to have Greenworks stop making the batteries.

All we have is her word, but personally I’m more concerned about the company’s long term viability than I am of them cancelling the 60v batteries.

Oh wait, that doesn’t make me feel any better! Face With Tears Of Joy

Assembled it yesterday. Love how quiet and low maintenance these cordless snow blowers are.

One thing to note, eventhough the included battery charger has slots for two batteries, it still only charges one at a time. Each take about 1.5 hrs from fully drained.

Told my family I was hoping for a cold, snowy winter, they were not impressed! Face With Tears Of Joy

If I get a greenworks 60V (5A) lawnmower, can I exchange the batteries with this snowblower? (60V, 4A)

The package says the size is 24x36x18 inches, is that correct? I was worried it would be too big for my car, but that seems super reasonable?

Yes, all of the 60v batteries between 2ah and 5ah are interchangeable, as per Greenworks customer service.

The only difference is that the 5Ah and 6Ah batteries are a bit longer. That shouldnt cause an issue but might mean the battery sticks out a bit.

My blower (kit comes with a 2.5Ah) looks a bit funny with a 5Ah battery sticking out just over an inch.
