[Canadian Tire] Master Chef Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls with Lids, 3-pc (50% off)

Covid has pushed me to take up baking and I've been mixing stuff in my pot. This seems like a good deal for some mixing bowls.

I was going out shopping today for a set of steel mixing bowls. Looks like I'm going to CT! Thanks OP.

Found it interesting that they say to handwash only. That made me wonder what type of stainless grade it was so this maybe useful to all.

Does it say anywhere what kind of stainless steel is used for these bowls? 18/8? 18/0? ...

The steel grade is 14/1

What is the diameter of the largest bowl?

The diameter of Largest Bowl is 26cm and Height is 12.8cm.

Are the Arcosteel bowls oven safe?

I purchased these bowls about a yearr an a half ago, I'm trying to bake a dome shaped cake and was wondering if these bowls were oven safe? I have the 3-pc set with white lids.

I'm not sure what set you are referring to with the white lids but with reference to this set with the red lids the only thing that it says on the box is that this set is dishwasher safe.Maybe try contacting the manufacturer directly for a definite answer.
The lids are BPA free and according to the last quote they are dishwasher safe. Not sure if it is the lid set is dishwasher safe or both the lids and the stainless bowls. Someone with the item in thier hands let us all know.

If it's 14/1 steel (14% chromium, 1% nickel) that explains the handwash-only rating.

Good quality food-grade stainless is usually 18/10. If buying things to keep, I strive for 18/8 at least.

14/1 is much less corrosion resistant, so dishwashing could damage these, i.e. cause rust.

I'd got the Pyrex Costco Mixing bowls, and was going to get these Stainless steel bowls, but I checked, quality is not the same as the Kirkland brand versions but obviously the price was higher $ 30. If I recall, I think I would rather pay more for better quality bowls...and Costco better return policy.

There are few reviews that mention that these aren't made as well as they use to be and that they rust.

Doesn't last! Poor Quality!
At first these seemed like a great buy. They stored and stacked food well, are light, and cleaned up easily in the dishwasher with no residual stains.
BUT!!!!!!:
(1) do NOT put the lids in the dishwasher...not even on the top rack without the heat dry cycle on, or they will warp and not fit properly. But then again, that's not a huge surprise...
(2) my biggest annoyance, is after around nine months of average use, the small one developed HOLES in it. At first they look like black specs, but quickly turn into pin head sized holes. I have NEVER had a metal bowl rust through and disintegrate before. I don't know if it is the marinades I use, but even still this should NEVER happen! I use my grandmothers metal bowl in the same way and have never had a problem, and I'm even a third generation user. I am SHOCKED at the lack of quality!
These might as well be short-term use, disposable bowls.

mine started to rust after I used it to soak my high chair straps. I did use oxy clean for the soak so I’m not sure if that degraded the material a bit?

Not sure on the specs of the the SS, but I've used Dollarama ones for a few years now and they're perfect, dishwasher and all. I don't think theses are worse. I could be wrong.

I dishwashed both the bowl and lids, no problems yet. Did it about 5 times I think.

This feels so flimsy holding it. There's barely any material and feels very cheap. Think I'm going to return it and find something better. It'll probably cost more but I'd rather buy something good once.

Had these for 5+ years and use them a lot. Will last unless you abuse it. More expensive ones certainly are nicer to use but these are good for the cost.

These are NOT the same as they were 5 years ago. I have a set from then and they are awesome. The metal wall thickness is good (not heavy to hold, but doesn't dent or deform when beating). The ones currently being sold are so thin I think you could stick your fork right through them and pretty sure that the metal WILL rust. Mine aren't stamped with any metal indication - but I thought they were 18/8 when I bought them - but I could be wrong)
Don't take the recommendation from people in this thread saying that these are good - they are NOT the same product. Not sure if this is a recent change by CT (COVID metal shortages) or if it happened a few years ago.

I have two sets of latest version, for the sale price you can't beat it.
The metal is thin and dents easily, the outside will rust occasionally but can be removed with toothpaste.
Don't put the lids in the dishwasher they will warp.

The old version of these were way better
