Canadian Tire Mastercard

Hey guys

I just got approved for the triangle MasterCard 200$ limit so very small and wanted to get some feedback on what people were given for limits and how quickly and by what amount they were given increases I'm using it for everything then paying it off frequently to keep a small balance but want the higher limit so I can use it and just make one large payment too it each month

$200 limit that's hilarious!
But don't feel to bad; one RFDer reported getting an initial limit half of yours
Don't worry so long as you make your payments on time, CTFS is generous and regular with limit increases
There's an existing thread about it here: canadian-tire-limit-2192992/

Just curious, how crappy does your credit have to be, to get a crappy tire card with that crappy of a limit? Thinking Face

I would say in current environment, don't expect limit increase so soon.

Applied for 2 cards yesterday. Today got:

1. BMO World Elite MasterCard $29,000 limit
2. Cdn Tire MasterCard $1,000 limit. WTF! ?
Doesn't make sense.

This thread has a spreadsheet of all the datapoints that people have reported here, of the credit cards they applied and were approved/denied for, including Canadian Tire mastercards, along with the credit limits granted, their credit scores, income reported on the application, etc.

We are of course under special circumstances currently.

To you, maybe. To CTFS...well this is almost to be expected...

They start off most new cardholders at low CL's. Start using the card and get those CLI's.

LOL. Too funny using the word "crappy" in your reply.

Probably because you got 29K CL with BMO MC.
So CTFS thinks you don't need a high CL with CT MC. *shrugs*

Can Tire wouldn't know I applied to BMO and got the CL.

When I got my Triangle WE, they gave me the same respectable limit as all my other cards. Even those people with low limits to start on CTFS cards get drastic increases fairly quickly and regularly. Not so with Simplii Visa. I, and others on the forums, have found that it's actually been Simplii that really drags its feet with CL. Even if they do grant you some increase after waiting months and months, they tend to still be very tight about it.

Same day (late night actually) applications so I doubt a HP showed up on my credit report overnight.
Cdn Tire makes no sense at all. A couple of years ago I had to call Meridian to drop my CL on my application cuz they gave me too much, 22.5K but I reduced it to 5.5K. I was expecting at least 10K from Can Tire based on my Credit scores, open trades, etc.

I called into Cdn Tire to increase the CL. A supervisor tried, but the system wouldn't let her. I need to wait 3 months. She said the system generates the CLs.

@Doomsday, I hope you fare better?

Otherwise you're gonna have a ton of BP's to make, to pay your combined $16K of tuition fees (including for your sister).

EDIT: Not to worry, you're all good. I see you've been approved for $1K. Count your lucky stars Smiling Face With Open Mouth

Exactly

Their lowest limit should be a full set tyres and indexed with inflation

Yeah it's pretty horrible haha I've been using it a lot since I got it so just paying off in full and keep re using to get the usage up so maybe get an increase sooner I've read a lot of people saying they get it in under 3 months or under 6

I have cap 1 aspire cash and limit is 2000, each time after i come back from Costco, i pay for it
The worst thing is I don't expect they increase the limit at all

It's pretty bad lol but has been going up hoping that it being so low it won't be so difficult for an increase with consistent use and payments
