[Canadian Tire] Pennzoil Platinum motor oil 5L | $32-35 | $25 GC rebate when you buy two

Starting March 18th (don't look for sale prices to appear at the link until then)

Looks like next up in the oil sale lineup at CT is Pennzoil Platinum.

That's right time to cash in on the rebate if you were waiting for it...

$32-35, depending on type/group, as follows:
Standard lineup: $31.99
High Mileage lineup: $32.99
Ultra lineup: $34.99
"Euro" grades: $34.99
(Conventional/non-Plat is also on sale but I dunno who uses conventional oil in this day and age.)

Sale price has been cheaper before but this is 2022 so "it is what it is" and you can get the rebate now unless you want to wait to see if there's a better sale between now and October. In the worst case if you were getting Ultra or Euro you have:

$70- 25 = $45 or $22.50 per bottle (plus whatever extra taxes you had to pay on the original amount). Not bad.

Note you need to buy two bottles (to total 10L) in order to get the $25 GC.

The rebate is a $25 "digital gift card" for unknown things, as discussed in this thread:
2022-pennzoil-rewards-promo-2525073/
And outlined here:
https://www.pennzoil.com/en_ca/promotio ... otion.html

There is no mention what the gift card is for or if it's something like a Visa or MC pre-paid card or what, just that it is "digital" Now I'm not sure how a gift card is going to be made up of digits, lol, so I think they mean an e-gift card or electronic gift card (as opposed to a physical one).

Edit: Thanks to N_Raged, we have the following info:
It also says you can have two redemptions per household, so looks like you can use it more than once but have to buy two bottles per rebate claimed.

I think there were actually more grades involved in the Motomaster oils which were on sale last week (ending today, the 17th), and that's probably a better buy if buying one bottle only or looking for those fairly specific grades that aren't here.

I know it's mentioned in the post already but if anyone finds out what exactly this gift card is it'll make or break this deal..

If it's some crappy penzoil product only gift card that'd be very upsetting. Hopefully it's a visa/mastercard

Solid deal - will be doing oil changes on both our cars in the next few months here. Thanks!

Or jump on the MotorMaster sale (ends today) and get the same oil in a different bottle sans rebate. Might cost a few bucks more but you save yourself the hassle.

Why not, go for it.
What's another 2 5L containers?

And since it's your preferred Brand, Pennzoil, get a couple more.

i've stocked up Pennzoil the last few Sales with Rebate cheques.

Ugh "premium lifestyle merchants"? That sounds pretty bad, but can anyone say if there's anything worth it in the selection?

this is BS...last offerings, they sent the rebate through Paypal...like WTF? Trying to collect personal details, in order to sell your info

I was going to post then avoided it exactly for the questionable rebate.

Some people on BITOG have been physically mailed something.

Seems like the motor Master deal at CT with points offer might be a better deal based on the ease of getting something that's known and has a few more specific grades of oil like 0W-20/30 and the common 5W/10W-30

The hotness of this will depend on my new CT offers tomorrow.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Where this "premium lifestyle merchants" came from I'm not sure. I never heard of that before though someone here is saying that was offered before?

You're telling me... 15L of German/Belgian Catrol, 10L of PP, 20L of Supertech lol. Also I think I have another open 5L Supertech in the garage I use as "add/top-up oil".

Mind you, there's three vehicles involved here two of my own + my sister's. So I guess it's "only" about 3yrs worth. The thing is the price of oil probably ain't going down so...

Where do I check the offers?

I'm fairly sure they have a shelf life even if unopened.

Motor oil? Not really. Good for years. I've actually seen a Mobil plastic bottle start to degrade (and probably leech into the oil) before but that was over about 10 years and TBH the Mobil bottles are a lot thinner. Motor oil itself never expires really--lots of info on this on BITOG as well as YT, etc. It would be good for longer than I'll live lol. 3yrs is definitely nothing.

The five 1L bottles of Castrol are getting old I guess but those Castrol bottles are fine (meaning the plastic) so I'm not worried. Those ones are German and I think the last German stuff I have left. The other Castrols are Belgian, but should be the same thing--PAO-based. Now you can't get even the Belgian here, been replaced with some Canadian-blended 5W40 or whatever. German stuff will be used next fall for sure--I try to save the 0W stuff for winter use. Which incidentally is why I was going to buy the MM OEPlus because they have it in 0W. But now that you pointed out this "too much oil" madness, I'm probably gonna wait for the next sale to bother. The branded PP doesn't seem to appear in 0W-40 very much in Canada, so can't pick it up in the rebate business.

The Supertech is primarily for the TTS--only summer driven and kind of my "experiment" to see if there are any issues with using it which I highly doubt there will be. I'll probably throw that in my sister's car as well since it's nice and cheap :D The Pennzoil I guess for summer use otherwise, so one of those will be getting used very soon as well.
