That is absolutely insane, but a lot of it might be the TPMS sensors and then "labour for training the sensors".

Get a cost breakdown if you can.

Most places charge about $20 a tire for mounting and balancing, TPMS prices vary but $60 per sensor would be a decent price. I'd expect about $320-400 total depending on the sensor price.

If in GTA ask Tires23 or other similar shops for a quote.

Many would tell you to avoid Cdn Tire for any kind of installation... Just buy the tires and install them elsewhere.

LOL $575 & CT. Even if we take $240 away for the sensors, that means they want $84 per wheel for M&B and TPMS learning. $84 per wheel!

CT did you a favour by giving you a BS cost so you'll run away to other tire shops and avoid a potential new thread "CT f'd up my tire installation"

I decided to the roll the dice and had CT install the tires for warranty purposes. I normally wouldn't go to CT but it's for a 13 year old car with wheels that have curb rash so wasn't too fussed if they messed them up. Was charged $32 each wheel for 215/45/17 tires. They used sticky weights. Seems fine so far.

Doesn't matter if the car is 13 years old or 13 days old if the wheel fly's off your in trouble just saying with that said CT does take a lot of heat here on RFD but I'm sure there are some decent ones out there.

Fair enough. My point was more about them gouging the wheels during mounting which I cared less about on this car. I wouldn’t take my other vehicles to CT. I do my own seasonal tire swaps and I did recheck the torque on the wheels and everything seems fine.

CT near me charged me $35 per corner for off-rim mounting (got good deal on tires and it was convinient to have them install it too). They've done a decent job with my 80k SUV (I watched them from the windows) and everything works fine after. There must be some mystery fees at this price. Do you have the breakdown of the quote?

Many dealerships and Canadian Tire used their standard labour rates as part of the tire install process. Tire shops tend to have lower rates in that regard.

I noticed this when I was looking for tires last year and many dealerships say that they match the tire price. Sure they do, but their labour charge to install 4 tires was working to about $45 a tire. I asked them why the price was that high and they said that their shop rate is $120 an hour and if the job takes 1 hour, that is what they charge us.

In comparison, the tire shop quoted me $16 a tire to install/balance and put a new valve stem. The dealership even quoted me $5 for each valve stem.

As others suggested, get the tires from Canadian tire, inspect them carefully so that there is no damage or anything that looks out of place and check the date of manufacture so that you have fresh rubber. Then look at finding a place to do a quality install at a fair price.

For reference, Canadian Tire just charged me $40/tire for installation and balancing.
