[Canadian Tire] Westinghouse 4k Roku TVs, $290 for 50", $340 for 58"

Was looking for a big tv for my new home when i came across this online. Seems like pretty good deals for the size, 4k and roku. reviews seem decent too.
Never heard of the brand before but apparently they're somewhat big and established. Check it out and lemme know what you guys think.

Got 3x 43" at the last sale. They are used as secondary tv (bedrooms, basement) and they do their job well, I like them. Sure they are not as good as a $2000 tv.. but for the price they are more than fair!

It baffles me how Tongfang makes such good laptops yet such awful TVs.

Yep....if George Westinghouse was alive he'd put his foot through all these TV's on display at crappy tire bearing his name.

Undoubtedly quite bad, unless you luck into a decent panel through a quirk of manufacturing.

Stick with name brands attached to established manufacturers.

Sharp, Toshiba, Westinghouse, RCA, etc. all sold their labeling rights to nameless Chinese producers who re-badge commodity bargain basement panels with their now tarnished names. These labels are sometimes set aside for QA-rejects from more reputable manufacturers, as is the case with RCA.

Westinghouse and RCA are associated with particularly heinous lottery panels.

Stay wise, folks.

I want a new large screen TV.

I recommend a name brand.

LG, Sony, Samsung, are all good options generally.

Panel lottery is real everywhere, but less of a problem with the above.

Tell us your budget and proposed TV size.

I saw a guy walking out of CT with one in his arms today beaming from ear to ear .... Disappointed But Relieved Face

There are much better bangs for your bucks. TCL and Hisense among them.
When it comes to cheap TV's don't buy them from CT. 2c.

maybe a tcl if it had roku at same price, but I wouldn't touch a tcl or any tv that wasn't a major supported brand that ran android os for smart features. The recent discussion of security issues on tcl are horrible with android os . There should have been some repurcussion for leaving root system file open over http.

Forget about using the inbuilt softs with these kind of things. Poor performance at best. I always use external inputs and leave them on a DMZ aside from the odd firmware update if required.

Disconnect your "smart" tv from wifi/ethernet and connect its HDMI port to whatever decent media box / device you can get for your budget.

+1 although TCL's have an annoying feature that flashes the front LED when not connected. This can be circumvented however ;)
