For those transferring from Carrytel, do you set up the installation date the same date as your Carrytel cancellation date?

I just chatted online with modem outlet and they suggested I do that. They said it is called a swap. Also, he said I need to make sure that Carrytel provides them with "transfer confirmation". I guess they are going to do the transfer on my behalf.
If in Ontario, Rogers allows 2 active connections on same line. Best to make sure new line is ok before canceling old. You can cancel carrytel the day you call and also they prorate and refund. Confirmed by calling before ordering

Hmmm I might end up going with this promo...

Rogers don't want to do any business with my pending renewal in Nov. They can't even match what I'm paying now 150u, $37.36/month.

Also got off with Fido chat and they can't do that promo that is posted in the other RFD thread, says its supposedly over.

Seems like this promo is the only one that's left....

Why does CanNet say that the $60 one time processing fee gets returned to the customer within 12 months $5 at a time, but modemoutlet says the fee is not returned? Why the difference between the two if they offer the same plan?
I was on the fence as well. Wil give them a try. Pricing is not l that bad, and will have overlapping services to compare.

Cannet is $39.98, $60 processing fee refunded $5 at a time. I.e. $39.98 for 2 years guaranteed

Modem outlet is $34.98 $60 processing fee, no refund of processing fee. Equivalent to 39.98 for 1 year, after its 34.98 for 1 year (34.98 pricing guaranteed for 2 years)

That's how I understood it when csr explained to me my options when I asked about getting processing fee waived. I went with modem outlet plan
Thanks! Now it makes sense LOL, the 1st year is same between them both, but the 2nd year ends up cheaper with Modem Outlet. Am I right?

This would be hot without the stupid processing fee.

I pay almost $38/m for rogers 150u. This 300u for 39.98 / 34.98 for 1st and 2nd year is pretty good, not much difference. Just would be hotter without $60 fee.

Same. I'm wondering if I should hold out for better deals? I'm hoping we get something closer to rogers deals, or the 1G FTTB deals.

I know, but I don't want to bother with the hassle. Plus every time you change there's a good chance Rogers/Cogeco/Bell with screw it up. My coworker spent all day on the phone with Cogeco because they screwed up a simple change over.

Ordered on Tuesday, modem was shipped out that afternoon and I just received it today.

You should be getting an email notification. Did you get an email to confirm your processing fee and service email?

I have been following this conversation and it's pretty embarrassing for StatsGuy. Lol. Everything StatsGuy stated is clearly a misunderstanding on his part. He posted the following like it backs up his POV...
"All it says is that the new provider MAY cancel on your behalf not they shall or must."

If it said "must" or "shall" then the new service provider would have to would have to initiate the cancellation process with the former provider. "May" is used because it has to be initiated by the client/customer. If the client makes a formal request to the new provider to cancel existing services with the former provider, and the new provider agrees, the former service provider MUST comply. It's all clearly explained in those links @txenglan posted.
When trolling the teksavvy thread, our winner of the month, to back up his constant bashing of teksavvy:

I can vouch for Cannet. Been with them for over 2 years, just switched from 75m to 300m and actived immediately after call ended. Had to push csr a little bit to get upgrade fee down to 25 as I was with them for sometime. Great bang for bucks with no major issues so far.

I can confirm this.
When I transfered from eBox to CanNet about 2 years ago, I had a cable T-splitter from the same wall outlet to connect the outlet to 2 modems - one each for eBox and CanNet. Both were working fine simultaneously. I let CanNet work a couple of days before I called in to cancel eBox.
