Is there any difference between the Hitron CDA3-20 and the Cisco DPC3848 other than one is wired and one is not?
Thanks

Anyone know how long this promotion goes on for? At the least I have to stay with Rogers until the end of August if I switch until my contract ends.

I presume their modems allow bridge mode. I have all my own routers (yes more than 1) for my place setup. My rogers box is in bridge mode (never have to reset the box :)), can theirs work fine like that?

I have had CanNet service since March in Cogeco land (I know this deal/thread is for Rogers/ONT only). It was poor service for the first six weeks. It was fine during the day, but just about unusable in the evening (peak times). I have the 60/10 package and at peak times I was getting only about 5-10Mbps with youtube/netflix. After several emails (they were always fast to reply) they said they were adding more capacity due to over congestion, and it would take about three weeks for the work to be done. Since that time the speeds have been great at peak times (usually get about 90% advertised speeds at night, and 100% during the day).

I have the CDA-RES modem and it works great for me. If you want to check your modem for the Puma 6 chipset problem, you can test it here.

As I heard, 75M and 150M price will stay but 100m will be gone in August.

Go with Cisco DPC3848 if you want a simple setup (cost $2/month more) with dual band wifi included. It's wireless DUAL BAND AC, but it's the lower end Wireless AC router, it's AC750 .

Go with Hitron CDA3-20 if you already have a BETTER wireless router.

Unless you really need very fast wifi speed, Cisco DPC3848 is the one you should go with. Plug & Play with both modem and wifi all in one.

I signed up and they cancelled on me the next day. They were told by Rogers that my condo address is a commercial address and they do not provide service. Again Rogers blocking smaller 3rd parties from providing service.

Just signed up. Jesus, what a deal.

I was already paying for a grandfathered Start.ca package, which they don't even offer anymore, it was 35/5 with only 200gb a month, for $45.99 CAD plus tax = $51.97 per month.

New deal I just signed up for is 100/10 speed, unlimited usage, for $38.98+4.98+tax = $49.67 per month.

I don't know how these glorious bastards did it, but they did it.

Thanks dudes. Great deal for my next 2 years of service.

How's customer service? I'm on Rogers 100/10 with unlimited usage for 60+tax. Looking to switch over to option 2.

Well. It's outsourced Indian Support. 7x24 running but the quality is the same as other outsourced indian call center.

If you need count on customer support to help you on everything, these C start enconmy ISPs are not for you.

Was with Fido 60/10. Rogers tech just checked my line this morning. Now on Cannet 75/10.
Ran a few speedtests and the speed seems good.
The only thing was, the modem they sent me was the one with wifi (I'm using it on bridge mode with my own router since others have said there's a problem with its wifi), but they adjusted my invoice so that I'd pay the price of the other one.
So, all in all, good so far.

I'm thinking of switching to this from Carrytel. I'm on their 25MBS DSL for $35, which is a great deal... but i did spend $100 on the modem.

If I wanted to switch to their cable, it would cost another $129 for the modem, and $50 to switch to cable. $180 to switch, versus $100 for Cannet.

Worth the switch? What do you guys think?

edit: Carrytel switch is $129, no switch fee.

You should feel lucky since this cisco WiFi modem is not bad, other than it's jumbo size.

If you use wifi, make sure 2.4g and 5g ssid are different, it will help on wifi issue;

If you need modem part only, use guide below to make it bridge mode:

just signed up 75/10 yesterday. I don't think the extra 25mb will make any difference, save $5/m :). actually, the upload speed is more important than download speed at this point.

Any complaints using VOIP with Cannet? I'm currently on 30/5 with start.ca for $50 and have freephoneline for VOIP. It would be frustrating if Cannet uses any kind of throttling at any time as that would hose VOIP.

I asked downgrade from Cannet 100m to 75M last week. Here is the answer for someone who want do the same: Cannet 100m downgrade to 75M . You will be charged $60 for this downgrade.

So basically it's a no go. And I stay with 100m.

I am on Freephoneline.ca (and have been for over 9 years). I have Cannet 100/10/u and have had no issues with my Voip on Cannet in the Ottawa area. I read they do not throttle but have congestion probiems in certain areas. So find out if people in your area are having congestion issues before you make the jump.
