canon 24mm f2.8 stm

So I just bought this mainly cause the other day there was a 'ymmv' for a different lens and I happened to watch a couple of youtube videos on this lens. I have a Canon T1i. Currently only using 'kit lenses'. I saw on kijiji that someone was willing to trade their 40mm pancake for a 24mm. Not sure which is better.
I bought it for 115 (includes tax).

what do you shoot mainly?

I had a 40mm f2.8 STM before and I decided to sell it because I don't use it as much as I thought, mainly because I shoot indoor all the time and framing the photo with 40mm is kind of too tight.
I recently purchased the 24mm f2.8 STM, I love the lens for the focal length and the wide aperture f2.8.

Took it out for street photography, nice and wide to capture what I needed. I tend to capture a bit wider to have the flexibility to crop (if needed)

I think both lenses are pretty much the same except for the focal length.
I'm not a professional photographer, it is purely my personal experience.

I would not trade it and if you still want a portrait lens, get the nifty fifty. 1.8 aperture performs better than the 2.8 of the 40mm stm.

Edit: realized OP has the 24mm and not the 40mm...

BTW, where the heck did you get the 24mm for $115?

I find the 50mm too long for indoor shots most of the time, but the performance is great on plastic fantastic :)

Most of my shots will be indoors.

I got it at blacks. I have access to a 50mm f/1.4.

Alright I guess I'll keep it. Thanks

The 40mm is 144 + tax @ blacks.
