Canon M50 Mark ii or M6 Mark ii?

Looking to buy a mirroless APS-C camera

I had an EOS R, and for my needs, the crop sensor just works better (I do mostly animals so having the extra 1.6x zoom on my lenses is great)

I'm not a professional by any means, so I figure a decent mirrorless will be good enough for me

I'm currently looking at these two cameras

30% more pixels on the M6 sounds nice (but once you get into resolutions like that, it's really not that much extra real estate)

Which would YOU get?

The $400 price difference means I could get an M50 + 22mm f2 + EF-M adapter for the same price, but if the M6 is that much better of a camera, I don't mind paying the extra

The M50ii caters more to the vlogging world with its much more flexible screen.

If you do a lot of video, M50ii is probably better.
If you like the built-in EVF, M50ii is better.
If having the highest megapixels in a photo is the most important, M6ii is better.

But the real issue is whether you want to buy into the dead or dying EF-M lens system.
New EF-M lenses are unlikely. The existing EF-M lenses' sale prices are infrequent or not so good.
An upside is you might find people offloading their used EF-M gear at discount prices.
Don't get me wrong - I have gotten thousands of amazing shots and great enjoyment out of my M100 camera. But I know it's still yesterday's lens system.

Canon rumour sites have speculated increasingly on possible upcoming APS-C RF-mount camera bodies.
Furthermore, if you shoot animals, consider that Sony has an "Animal Eye AF" feature that you might find interesting.

I was looking at an a7rii, but I have thousands of dollars worth of Canon glass

M-mount doesn't scare me because I'd just be getting an adapter for an ef camera anyways

The thought of an aps-c rf mount camera is intriguing though

Actually I was doing some research because of this thread.
Supposedly an M50 Mark III is coming this year (Q4/2022), with Animal Eye Detect.
And supposedly an RF APS-C is already in the hands of early testers.
Take this all with a grain of salt.

I thought the m6 was a mirroirless version of the 90d sans evf.

This is more or less correct. There are differences (on-sensor DPAF, burst rate with C-AF, video specs), but they are pretty similar. You can get a clip-on eVF with the M6 II.
