Plus.. you need to buy CF express card(s) to take advantage of the features (I don't know if 8k video will record to SD?)
That's up to $1000 for a single card.

Plus.. you need RF lenses or an adapter.

If this is your profession and you're making money from it, that's one thing..
but if not, I don't see many people buying this camera.

You could easily be in for more than $10 grand.

In the in the 5D IV days its almost $10K if you factor in two L lenses. The R5 is only around CAD$500 more expensive than the 5D IV launch price if i recall correctly.

Around $2K ish and my camera has less than 15K shutter actuation. Thank goodness I can re-use all my EF lenses (24-70 F4L IS II, 70-200 F2.8L IS II) or else I'll be totally kaput.

Canon R5 is Very Appealing to Me...

If I was not so invested in Sony I might have crossed over after shooting for about 4 years with Sony and about 5 years with Fujifilm before that...

Those who want to save some money...

I understand the hype about Canon finally getting serious (and stepping out of denial) about mirrorless, this could have been a game changer for Canon users.

The camera is riddled with problems, and is clearly not ready for primetime as a stills + video tool. Many will say they don;t want video (to each their own) - but Canon created the camera to do both, and failed pretty badly. Stopping shipments, and recalling stock in some countries is not a software fix, this is a hardware thing that will cost them dearly. The users will have to wait for a real Canon mirrorless option, though they still have decent DSLR and Cinema options in the meantime.

This should have been an awesome release and update for the industry, but it just fell so short...

Camera Specs Side of the R5 looks great!

And I am a Sony Shooter...

Video side you really need to work around it but it's doable under some circumstances...

Canon R5 is by principal and photo camera which does video ...

Where as the Sony A7SIII is a video camera that does photos...

I am interested in the R6 but only one of my lenses appears on this list -- the 50 mm 1.8 stm. My cheapest lens. My L lenses are not on this list :( I hope this is a list of the tested ones with more lenses to be added. I saw a list from Asia with more lenses including one of my L lenses listed. Fingers crosssed.

Yikes, so older USM and some older L lenses don't work at full speed? There goes resale value.

There didn’t seem any limitation to the E-shutter, but shooting with an e-shutter has its own limitations. My choice is an r6 and the RF 24-70 f2.8(maybe the 28-70) or the r5, I don’t do video that often.

Yes. I found out recently that if you move your camera around quickly, e-shutter will result in mass distortions at the background. All buildings looks like the Tower of Pisa.
Best shopping deals I got from here:
Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom $300, ZTE Blade V8 Pro $175, Fluld 55' 4k TV $360
