The included 18-55mm kit lens should cover the range you are planning to use the camera for. Any recommendation I have has a similar range to that but would cost quite a bit more for what you gain. I would recommend sticking with the kit until you have a good feel for what you want and you are confident that the 18-55 isn't satisfying your needs.

How many deals have you guys seen ONLINE or in a department store better than the one offered here for the t4i? I want a dslr by summer time, and I could wait... But if this deal is on the hotter side already, I might as well purchase it.

If you feel you are lucky and can move fast, keep an eye out for Target liquidation sales that will be coming. They carry the T5i and have been known to slash prices by 70% on clearance items. They dumped their Nikon 3100 kits for $144 last year.

Hi Jack, if you can wait, then its good to wait cos you cant return for refurbished product from estore, especially if you got one with high shutter count.

+1 Use the kit lens and get comfortable with it.
If I was on crop like this T4i, I'd eventually get a 24mm pancake, 10-18 wide angle, and the 55-250 STM.

All the targets I have been to only have the t5 not the t5i. I would jump all over a t5i even at their 30% off that clearance normally start at. I think most will be gone before anywhere close to 70% now that everyone knows about target clearance. I need to replace my XSI With something with video.advantage21 wrote: ↑If you feel you are lucky and can move fast, keep an eye out for Target liquidation sales that will be coming. Thanks, OP
I finally decided to buy one, received it today and pretty happy.
The filter and the remote are welcome bonuses.
eosinfo didn't work for me, I didn't want to modify FW with magic lantern, so I paid 1.79 USD to eoscount,
so the shuter count was 97! The camera looks brand new.
Off to play with it.
Also, nice surprize for me - kit lens is IS.
Apropo Target - went there today, lots of people, very few clearance items, half empty shelves. Nothing to write here about.

So, received my T4i from Canon. Looks brand new! But just checked the shutter count & it's 3359 (a little dissapointed seeing that a few of you have lower counts) but the body has no scratched. New camera strap, etc...
Canon just changed the deal, now they are adding in a camera bag so if you haven't purchased and thinking about it pretty good deal.

No worries, the T4i shutter count durability rating is 100,000, that's barely broken in.
Just make sure the sensor is clean (take a pic of a white sheet with a black dot in the middle to manually focus on it, use Aperture priority and dial to f/22, if you see big grey globs it's dirty, a bunch of little specks is fine. Vistek charges $40 to clean it professionally)
Happy shooting!

Still thinking about jumping on this. Still pissed off about missing the 299 new ones at sears. This is still a fairly good deal but I'm wondering if it'll just be too bulky for travel. This would be our first DSLR. My last big camera was a Rebel G film.
R U PACKIN HEAT ?
