CapitalOne and Paybright

So I decided to get the new Samsung Tablet on pre-order and saw that they were offering 0% interest and using PayBright as a lender over 12, 24 or 36 months. But when it came time to put in my CC number (sadly only Visa & MC accepted), it kept rejecting the MasterCard saying that “only Canadian cards accepted”. In the end I put in my Visa debit card number cos my other cards are Amexes.

Decided to write them about it and then came across a Q&A where it said that Capital One cards cannot be used.

Anyone know the reason why? I was ‘offered’ a 100% chance of approval on both Capital One Platinum cards recently but am holding off after this experience. And they were only offering $1000_$3000 CL.

I’m looking for another card to replace Capital One. I started out with them 4 years ago as a credit builder but haven’t seen much advantage of holding onto them since.

According to the Q&A you are talking about, Capital One does. You'll have to ask Capital One, which is exactly what that link says you should do.

As far as I know, Capital One Platinum is a U.S.-only CC. In Canada, there's the "Guaranteed" one's for credit building, and then the Aspire cards that give roughly 1% on everything. There were the grandfathered cards with CapOne, but I don't think neither of them were called 'Platinum' at all. So I'm thinking the current CapOne card you have right now is a U.S.-based CC.

I recall reading a paybright site that Capital One cards are not accepted. It was a few about a year ago when I noticed during a purchase.
Once in changed to another bank cc, no issues.

@WayneW8682 Cap1 blocks all BNPL's across the board. Use another issuer if you wanna BNPL, just not Cap1.

It's a BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later). I recommend reading some articles about the topic or even watching some YouTube videos that explain it.

Come back here and ask if you still have questions after that.

He likely has the Aspire Platinum Travel.
I used to have that card, and on the statement, it just says Platinum MasterCard.

It seems like every card issuer these days are putting 'Platinum' in their product names.. lol.
But otherwise, I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification.
