Car Maintenance Questions - 2014 Hyundai Accent

Something makes no sense. I am quite sure the first coolant change is long before 10 years (120 months). I think you are misreading something.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture and should be changed about every 2 years (it should be in the maintenance schedule)

My Honda is like that for coolant too. First change at 10 years, then every 5 years after that.

I looked at your owner's manual, and indeed it does not list an interval for changing brake fluid. My Honda is every 3 years. I'd say every 2-5 years is doing better than average. Most people never change it.

Maybe in 2014 Hyundai didn't think their cars would last this long...

As for your questions about Coolant and brake fluid:

- coolant - first change is always longer (although 192K seems very long). The second one is shorter as the water pump holds some fluid and may require more frequent changing.

- Brake Fluid - as it absorbs water, there are tests to see the % in the fluid. A good rule is change every 4 years.

Tucson is the same. Change coolant at 192k or 10yrs, whichever comes first. Interval is every 48k or 2yrs there after.
