Carplay in 2017 Lexus ES

Hello Guys,

I was looking to get carplay installed in my 2017 Lexus ES in GTA Area.

1) any recommendations and what you think will be approx cost?
2) do you think its worth it?

Also saw this device but not sure how good it will be: https://www.amazon.ca/Portable-Wireless ... op?ie=UTF8

Thanks for the inputs.

I personally wouldn’t be putting Chinese garbage in my Lexus if I had one.
Spring for a good aftermarket CarPlay compatible deck from a known car electronics store.
This thing you’ve linked is using FM transmitter?
I thought that died in the 90’s?

Funny the poster above me says forget the chinese crap and go with a name brand one... The chinese actually have better integration with most Toyota products than the name brand aftermarket.

I have no problem recommending people get a decent Chinese unit from AliExpress.

The key is you need to research the unit and get the proper Harness and CANBUS Decoder. Some Chinese sellers on Ali are actually very good. They will ask you for Car year make and model and take a picture of the rear of your unit so they can help you put together the harness.

Check EKIY Auto Radio on Aliexpress.

You'll run about $500 for one with the correct harness, mounting hardware and faceplate. It's absolutely worth it because Toyota's Infotainment from that era is laughably bad.

I actually helped a friend put unit in to his 2014 MB GL350 and that car has a way more complex internal network vs a Lexus.

Check out the GROM VLINE2 it pretty much a plug and play type system.

It's a little more pricey but very reliable and good customer service. You also might be able to find a group buy on Facebook or the Lexus forums to save some money.

Some people are just clueless. He probably doesn't know that a huge amount of the parts of his car originated from China.

your best bet is to go to some lexus groups and ask recommendations from them. They may know more and someone might have bit the bullet and installed something before you and you can ask if the unit is any good.
I'm using GROM Vline right now on my Acura. It is good and I'm happy but I heard the Grom for lexus units are different. It can be buggy depending on your model.

The only clueless one is you.
Because it’s very clear you don’t realize that a part made in China for millions and millions of vehicles, has to pass certain qualifications to be used on a vehicle.
Comparing a Chinese made electronic, with a Chinese made car part is nothing short of laughable.

And you assume certification means something...

I think the grom vline is the most OEM'ish option. But your success may vary. It's a lot of money to put down on something thats buggy.

Check AUCAR if they have one - I dropped the MK6 Screen in my new car and absolutely love it - Full android - looks fully integrated OEM + sim card + apple car play/android auto.

Bit expensive but solid.
