My plan increased $5 this past April. Last week I received a email from Carrytel offering me a $20 discount if I prepaid for the year which would also guarantee the rate for the next 12 months. It did offer a full pro-rated refund if I cancel before the 12 month period.

I think I will take them up on the offer because $20 is better than nothing and I get any pre-paid amount back if I happen to cancel.

Hey

what do you guys think of their TV offerings. $15 for 66 channels if you already have their internet package. I am on their $45 75 MB cable internet.

That seems like a great plan. You have to activate the TV for $129 and $5 rental of their android box thingy.

Cheers,

For everyone is the 1st increase. Not 2nd.

I didn't get an increase back then, either. I just got an email saying that it's going from 29.99/month for the 75/10 to 34.99.

People complaining about customer service when they're paying hugely discounted prices make me laugh. Of course their customer service is bad! They're the cheapest service on the market, they have no staff!

If you really do want great customer service, I recommend Heronet. I've used a lot of telcos for phone/Internet/TV over the years. Heronet is far and away the best customer service I've ever seen.

Heronet's customer service is so good that when I switched to Carrytel two years ago, they went above and beyond by getting in touch with VoIP.ms on my behalf and transferring my phone number there for free. Heronet and Carrytel literally sell the exact same product and great customer service isn't worth $20 a month IMO.

Any prospective Cogeco customer getting decent offers to sign up? The plans are too expensive compared to the smaller ISP's.

Also, what's a good modem for Cogeco/Smart cable internet?

They updated the promotion to "$39.99 for the first 6 months then $44.99 per month", making it $10 cheaper over the duration. However, the year contract is still unappealing.

I'm in Cogecoland, and have been using Carrytel for a couple of years. No issues, whatsoever, and the best prices around.

The best package we can get here is 120/10. I believe the 150/15 is for Rogers areas.
