Hi guys,
I switched for Start.ca $50 plan to Carrytel $30 plan for the same speed (40 down, 10 up) a week ago. Very happy with the internet speed. Saved $20 monthly without loosing anything. The customer service from Carrytel is also very reliable and supportive, I would say it is similar level as Start.ca.

I got a code for $40 off for modem purchase,

It makes the deal sweeter.

You can also choose higher speed.

I think you have to buy a modem.
But it is only $60 after discount. I will recover the cost in 3 months.
They did not need any new wire.
For me, I did it by myself. Just disconnect the old modem and plug the new modem. That’s is all needed.

Price seems reasonable BUT for Cogeco area users, buying a 8x4 modem (now TP-LINK TC7610) for $99 will give speed limit headache when gigabit internet available. Not a wise investment :( Renting a crappy modem for$6/month is waste of money :( It's not a win-win for Cogeco users unless Carrytel offer a discount (modem currently below $40 USD in the market) or a gigabit modem similar to Rogers cable area clients.

B(h)ell only offer FTTN/DSL up to 10MB, yes it's that archaic speed, with ridiculous pricing, and some of us are victims of Cogeco greediness :( I heard some rumors about infrastructure upgrade in process and until real competition occurs, we will stuck with Cogeco's monopoly :( and medieval era modem offers :(

They have an RFD special offer as well for cable 60 in cogeco area ($35/m for 2 years + $100 modem: Hitron CDA-RES) and cable 75 in Rogers area ($35/m + $100 modem: Technicolor TC4350)

You can't use the modem referral code though

Cogeco RFD offer

Also, thanks for sharing but you should probably indicate that you'll receive $20 off if someone uses your code which is why it's against RFD rules as indicated earlier (you probably were too excited to share this deal here and missed it)

Anyone using CarryTel in NorthYork, how about the speed during peak hours?
Can Carrytel reach the 50% of claimed speed?

Just an FYI - any modem discount codes didn’t work for me with the RFD promo.

I literally just hooked up carrytel 2 hours ago and getting 75/10 as advertised in Hamilton. Waiting to see how this pans out over the next few days before I cancel Rogers...
