I mean what do you expect, these people are there to make money and if you can say some magical words they'll give you more money than if you were honest 🤷‍♂️

Lol. As I was watching, it kept reminding me of the locksmith story. Was not surprised when it turned out to be same guys.

Not a surpise.

That's why i always try to learn and understand the process before getting any contractor's assistance.
It's a hassle, and by the time i learn about it, i might as well just do the fix myself.

If they know that you know nothing, they will rip you off.

It kinda makes you think who you can trust. Some of these guys will have glowing reviews and they're all fake.

The line that struck me was "they had a bunch of reviews on Google, all 5 star".

Yes, because people are always 100% satisfied with the appliance repair service and cost.

These folks need to learn to follow the standard rule of online reviews: throw away all the 5-star reviews and all the 1-star reviews to get a hint of the true rating. If there are no reviews left, you have your answer.

It seems like it's difficult to find honest repair people.

If you think a company is going to come to your home, diagnose the problem, and repair it, all for $80 then you’re part to blame.

The guy changing the perfectly working pump and staying it will be good for 4-5 loads only was shady and unethical

Or these places just buy google reviews. I've seen lawn signs that say "affordable google reviews". LOL

No one said it would cost $80 to fix anything, they said the diagnostic fee was $80 but when the tech came over he said its $80 just for him to come over and then $200 more to diagnose it and fix any issue minus the parts.

I know, I watched the show. They made a point on show that they were surprised that the $80 fee was just to come there and they didn’t tell them over the phone about the additional $200

That and they get family and friends to leave reviews for them. Some Service companies give their employees bonuses based on google reviews and more often than not they don’t care about authenticity. I personally know of someone who is prominent on Instagram and is in the plumbing service sector, working for a well known national company. Anyway their company (Reliance) gives such bonuses and this person was on their instagram boasting about how they set a new company record for reviews. Well someone did some digging and low and behold most of their reviews were fake and called them out on it. Not sure if the company did anything or even cared
