Also, an even better deal then would be to buy the 3-month gold memberships which are only aprox. $17-18 CAD, and do the conversion trick to ultimate.

If you're doing conversion, the absolute best is to buy 12-month Xbox live from Costco for $60/yr or $5/month and convert that to XGPU.

The ones in costco are about 60 right? Wouldn't that mean am paying 60$ for 4 months of GPU?

Yes, to do the conversion you need to NOT have an ultimate subscription active, or wait until it expires and then it seems you can do it again once you have no active subscriptions.

You can redeem or do anything to your subscription through the mobile apps, seems like it must be done on console or pc app which is a small problem because I only have my vpn on my phone atm.

I was able to get 3 months, worked great, but then the same thing that always happens, payment blocked, etc when I went back for 4 more to top up to 3 years.

Tried Paypal, MC and a Visa.

This always happens to me when I try to use places like this.
