Be careful to keep sightlines. We're also on a busy street, and I make sure that anything planted within 15-20 feet of the street is low enough to see over when backing out of the driveway. Also, don't plant on the city- owned part of "your" front lawn.

Don't buy the biggest cedars from big box stores - it is tempting, but they have often been field grown and dug out with insufficient roots, and so tend to die. Buy the smaller ones, they will grow fast enough.

If you are looking to have a "solid" hedge, don't get pyramidal cedars. They'll just grow in a triangular/pyramid shape and won't grow into eachother. You want black cedars for that.
