Cell Phone Prepaid Card

I am in the process of setting up an emergency cell phone for someone. So this phone will get next to no use. Bell has a 1 year $100 prepaid card option (with a $5 a month plan). Are there any providers that have a cheaper 1 year card, with just a pay as you go plan? I know Bell used to have the option as pay as you go, but they did away with it recently. I am located in Ontario.

Thanks for your help!

Yup, speakout is the cheapest, I think.

I'm looking at the Speakout website, and I can't see how the $25/yr works. I see 30 day plans, but I also see the statement that there is 365 day expiration on all top-ups. I can't see how to set up the $25/yr.

The plans are optional. You can just add money and do pay as you go. Must top-up at least $25 every year, manually.

Buy a speakout sim card and a $25 prepaid card, activate the sim card and load the prepaid card. They have one year to use the $25 load. This is what my mom does who barely uses her phone.

Thanks, What confused me is that with other carriers, you have to choose a plan.

According to their wesite, it states."A monthly Regulatory Recovery Fee of $1.25 is deducted from all accounts regardless of usage or where you reside." Can I assume that $15 will be deducted over the course of a year which will leave you with a $10 balance? At $0.30 a minute that leaves you with just over 33 minutea of talk time. But it's just an emergency phone, right?

Yes.
I also install these free calling apps on my phone which have free calls to Canada & USA as long as you have WIFI connections: textme, textnow. they also give you free real phone numbers.
