Noooo. That poor family. Hayes, isn't it? Seemed like most there were related to one another.

My PC couldn't catch their OTA signal so I've not watched them since TV went digital. Not that I watched them much before.

It would be nice if an all-sports OTA channel took over - and improved their signal strength.

"Channel 11 L.P., the entity that has created local news for CHCH since 2009, has in turn filed for bankruptcy effective today."

Looks like CHCH is going to somehow be okay, along with Channel Zero... http://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/ch ... 08271.html

"CHCH will continue to exceed the CRTC local broadcasting requirements as part of its commitment to its license and the Region. Furthermore, CHCH and its parent company, Channel Zero, are financially unaffected by this filing. Channel Zero looks forward to participating in the CRTC's upcoming hearing on the policy framework for local and community television programming in the New Year."

With Sportsline and Squareoff gone, I guess that frees up some money to help keep local news on the air.

Times change, traditional media has been in slow death for years, I suspect the entire collapse of cable TV is not far behind.

Blahhh... channel 11 has got to be one of the most boring stations ever. Completely lame unless you wanna know about local Hamilton news. I recall it was replaced by E! channel in TO lineup on robbers for a time.

What's old still ends up being new again. There are always people willing to watch cable television, or even use an HD antenna instead, if desired.

I'm honestly not sure when the Rogers (owner of City TV) contract runs out. Good question though.

The funny thing is, Global (former owner of the rights to E! in Canada) sold CHCH for only $1 to the current owner.

*E! is a separate (relaunched) channel currently owned by CTV today.

Does anyone remember the live BINGO game that was played on the weekend?
You could pick up a game card from a convenience store, play with the television show and call in when you've won?

I also remember when Global TV used to have Wintario on Thursday nights. A local bingo game for Hamilton is a nice idea. I know nothing about the success/failure rates for today's times though.

Kind of sad. I remember watching channel 11 as a kid. I remember turning the dial to get to it. Wow, I'm old. :)

I don't think I've ever tuned into CHCH.

As many of us are cord cutting and moving away from linear tv - what do you think will happen. A couple of the small cable channels from bell and Rogers already disappeared or severely cut staff. Now you have an over the air which tries to fill a small subset of the market (Hamilton) with advertising dollars that are getting smaller on tv.

Wait 5 years the list will be long.

May not have to wait that long. Isn't Bell and Rogers going to offer pick and pay service in early January?

I like when CHCH use to leak porn during the day!

I remember Tiny Talent Time. Small, local OTA stations will all be gone soon.

What???

May have been a test to see if anybody was actually watching.

Obviously some1 was.

Did you notice any of the Hayes clan in it?
