Cheapest possible media player for netflix

I currently have an HDMI cable attached to my tv to watch Netflix and I'd like to eliminate this set up. I have a wall mounted tv with a spare ethernet cable from my router to the back of the tv. What is the cheapest media player I can buy with a remote that will run Netflix via ethernet cable as I do not want to stream via wifi?

The player will also need to be discrete enough to mount near the edge of the tv as I assume it will need line of site with my remote.

Any suggestions?

If you have ethernet at the back of your TV, then you should have a Smart TV. The Netflix app is available on most Smart TV platforms.

No sorry I did not explain that well. The previous owner had a smart tv so there is an ethernet cable just hanging there, I however have a dumb tv.

What's the budget?
Just really cheap. I dont need 4k or anything fancy. I'd spend $40 or so

Why not just do Chromecast? It's wifi, but works well.

Perhaps one of those Amazon fire sticks? .. or Roku stick? those are around $40ish ? Chromecast would work too I guess but you'll need a smart device to drive it.

The suggestions so far don't meet the criteria of ethernet connection and Netflix in HD.

The Roku stick or Fire stick or Chromecast are cheap, but WiFi only.

Cheap Android media players have ethernet, but can only play Netflix in 480p resolution due to DRM restrictions.

Your cheapest option in Canada with ethernet and Netflix 1080p is probably the Roku Premiere+ at $90. The Mi Box is around the same if shipped from China, but you have to wait and take your chances on import taxes.

Since you don't care about 4K, an older Roku 2 (2015) or Roku 3 would also do fine. Maybe you can find one for sale cheap. My Roku 2 works great with Netflix, and I bought it new for $45.

You may not have a smart TV, but a smart Blu-Ray player is another option. They have ethernet and Netflix 1080p, and some of them are under $100.

Current-generation cable TV PVRs from companies like Bell and Rogers also offer built-in Netflix.

Why’s wrong with the chrome cast on WiFi? You mentioned you don’t need 4K content so streaming Netflix over WiFi isn’t going to be a problem at all.

Even cheap Blu Ray players have the app built-in. If ethernet is there and you don't need WiFi, a player would be $50-$60.

Skip android boxes unless its a android tv box such as the Mi box.

Cheapest and meets your criteria is probably a Roku.

Since you want a remote you can get a fire stick and the ethernet power cable.

Amazon.ca has a ugreen one but do not know if it works, but it supports android so it should work.
