Chinese food with purple filling...

I've been meaning to ask someone about this...I had it at the "Chinese Lantern Festival" and was SOOO SO GOOD! It looked like almost a mini spring roll, but the filling looked like potato with purple food coloring...what was it!

It's mashed Barney meat, very rare, but a popular Chinese delicacy nonetheless.

what did it taste like? chicken? was it sweet?

I think that the light purple is the real, natural coloring;
not purple food coloring

Purple Yam. You can find it at most Asian grocery stores (atleast the ones I go to). That's probably what it was.

Okay, I guess we should ask the OP if it was light or dark purple (altho' I still think red bean paste is red :razz: )

light purple / violet = taro

medium purple = purple yam or ube (Filipino word)

dark red / dark purple= red bean
