Chinese Name for Baby

Was wondering what is the most common or best way to have the Chinese name in the middle name?

We did hyphen because you may run into situations where only 1 middle name will show up if not hyphenated.

That's why I do for my kid too.
Except I haven't hyphenated

Thanks for the reply everyone.

Yes I'm leaning towards hyphenated or one word also. Seems like the hyphenated is the winner.

I have space in my Chinese name in my citizenship, SIN card and 1st passport. Later I added my English name in my passport, DL and health card. My Chinese name moved to middle name section and space got removed. Fast forward to a few years back, I got roasted by Office of Registrar General when getting marry as my birth certificate and citizenship didn’t match my passport and DL due to no spacing in my Chinese name in current documents.

Interesting topic. I prefer the hyphenation. It just looks better to me.

My wife has hit road bumps because her legal name is Li-Chun Derek Chan (lol). Her passport has the hyphen but airline tickets need to be booked with a space for online check-in to work reliably. The kids and I have Chinese names issued from our elders but our Canadian IDs have two western names.

All the best to your family!

May I ask if bob5593 is part of a same gender marriage couple?
