Are Chinese winter tires (joyroad) any good?

don't bother with these no name tires. They have a brand every year so it's hard to get any info on them. If you want quality stick to the well known brands. Anything you never heard off it's probably rebranded or a rebranded crap tire
I'll see you at the top, cause the bottom is too crowded

If you drive on brand name all season unlikely you'll settle for a no name winter tire.

Car control over those conditions is huge and often overlooked when comparing cheap and premium tires. Sometimes stopping distance doesn't tell the full story.

Some cheaper tires may perform okay, but on road course style tests on snow, premium tires tend to offer confident and predictable handling characteristics where the cheaper tire starts to fall apart.

Here is what I don't understand about this thread.

Are we really debating whether to cheap out on an extra $200-$300 per 4-5 years.... and risk an accident or dying of oneself and one's own family?

Are we so... so... cheap that we' would be willing to go this far to save a buck?

These chinese made tires are trash, probably still better than all-seasons, but trash compared to some of the better winter tires. The whole point of winter tires... is not to die... so whats the point of this thread?

Use @seafish 's www.stocktrack.ca

It doesn't look like 225/65r17 is available in Xi3

For 215/65R17 (1.8% smaller) https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator
https://stocktrack.ca/?s=ct&q=0072143

Looks like Agincourt has 4 @ $125 ea

If you don't mind driving around, there's the Continental Winter Contact Si in 225/65R17

A few stores have a single tire left @ 101.93 each. You would need to hit 4 stores to get a set

It's a really decent tire but those *are* clearance tires leftover from 2019 CT clearance thread (i.e. produced with 2018 dates). Last year, people were stacking $60 rebate from continental and $40 CT bonus money . The Winter Contact SI was replaced with Winter Contact SI *Plus* (CT exclusive)

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech ... ?techid=35
102 is the weight rating like for a minivan or light SUV. 106 would be for a mid size SUV like a Ford Explorer
H is the speed rating = 210 km/hr max, T= 190 km/hr mx

The winter tire you use must be equal or greater speed/ weight rating than the stock tire

Change your store distance to 100 or 200 km to view more stores

Couldn't agree with you more I come from the belief that you never cheap out on tires. I remember a thread on RFD this summer where Walmart was clearing out bottom of the barrel Chinese tires for $40-$50 per tire. These tires I wouldn't run on my bicycle never mind a car and yet people were running all over town looking for them. People were even asking if they could mismatch tires since they couldn't find a full set lol.

Number is tire load rating. Letter is a speed rating.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are any CT clearance tires left that exactly match your Nissan. The closest would have been the WinterContact, but it's not H rated. A lot of tire shops will only exactly match or exceed the tire rating due to insurance liability

I would recommend Tires23 if you are close to Dixie/401

I think you'll have to ask in that thread. It looks to me that it's an extra cost to be added by the installation shop that you select
