Choosing an android auto head unit..

What do you guys recommend?

I've had a basic Sony xav-ax3000 previously and it was ok.

I figure other units out there might have more compatability with android apps. The Sony only really could run Google assistant, Waze and Spotify.

There are actually some pretty darn cheap Chinese android no name head units on Amazon that seem like they would have much more controls available for the user to load whatever apps they want, and you can even run video based apps such as YouTube if you want.

What do you guys recommend?

+1 for crutchfield. Theyre great for hooking you up for the harness and mount you need.
Their website and support are just top notch but still great prices.

I bought a joying double din for my crv it fit well and came with a wiring harness, it was a direct fit and I can still use the steering wheel controls. I've had it for 3 years no issues so far.

The only crappy thing with it is the Bluetooth mic quality for calls, it's not very good. Not sure if they've improved it with newer models. It has GPS which doesn't require data also or tether your phone and use Google maps. You can side load viper4android which improves the audio quality.
