Chunk of asphalt driveway destroyed by the foundation of the house

Anyone know what be going on here, just noticed it today.

Basically a chunk of the asphalt on the driveway broke off and there's a mushroom growing there. What concerns me is that it's right by the foundation of the house. It's in a spot that is not driven or walked on.

I thought it might be worth mentioning that I placed a planter nearby with a boxwood cedar in the fall. The spot in question is almost in full shade most of the day since putting the boxwood cedar there

It almost looks like the mushroom was growing underneath and got so big that it broke through the asphalt even though I know that's not what happened but that's what it looks like. What would cause this? I'm estimating the driveway is about 5 years since it was paved.

There are nearby trees around and and there is a section where it's cracking due to tree roots but it's at least ten feet away from this area. One, I actually had to get removed due to disease. The stump is still around that constantly produces mushrooms but it's at least 10 feet away from this spot.
