Long commitment for $350 and leave at least $3000.

I had to complain to the president's office when Scotiabank declined my $300 bonus cus one of my auto payment was short 19 cents from $50. Is there a min on the two monthly auto debit to qualify?

Say it with me: "I do not consent to a credit check for this application". They should print a form off and ask you to sign, indicating you are declining a credit check.
Wait... why would I have to sign off on REFUSING to agree to a credit check??... Wouldn’t it make sense for them to make me sign my agreement to one and not sign if I don’t agree?

I think only the Smart Plus account has a Visa annual fee rebate.

No. If you want cheques, they're quite pricey -- they start at $50.88 + shipping for a book of 100.

If you actually want/need cheques, I'd recommend opening an account with Simplii. You'll get access to all CIBC machines for deposits/withdrawals, but there are no fees/minimum requirements, and cheques are actually free.

Does anyone know if there is a minimum amount for the direct deposit or it could technically be like $1?

Yep I did go through with my application. I'll have to call them and ask if I qualified for the promo.

There are a couple ways, but the easiest is by clicking on your account, then drop down the menu from "Manage My Account", and then select "Void cheque/direct deposit info":
