City of Toronto Property Tax lookup website not working?

Trying to login to the City of Toronto Property Tax lookup website (https://www.toronto.ca/services-payment ... perty-tax/) to confirm if my last payment was received, but doesn't accept my bill details to login.

Has always worked in the past over the last 6 years since I moved into current residence.

Anyone else able to try and see if they can login with your property details?

Just tried, and it also didn't work, I tried a few days ago and it did work, must be some IT error.

Called on phone, took over 2 hours of waiting!

My customer number changed for some reason. Agent didn't know why, he says they should only change when ownership information changes, but everything was still the same from what he could see.

Update: called City of Toronto today, waited about an hour, and they also told me somehow my customer number changed, while nothing else changed. The city clerk was confused as well, she mentioned that this morning another lady called and also had the same issue. I asked her if she can report it to someone and she mentioned she will to her coordinator.

As an update to this, City of Toronto mailed me today saying there has been a data breach since they use Accellion which had a data breach, as a result, they changed my customer #, the other information apparently is public information.

Also received mail yesterday about the data breach.
Re: Notification of a Cyber Security Incident
This letter is to inform you of a cybersecurity incident that occurred with a third-party software provider used by the City of

have impacted your personal information, which is covered under the provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information &
Protection of Privacy Act.
The City of Toronto's Chief Information Security Officer immediately suspended the use of the file transfer application and
secured City assets.
Although our technology staff continue to investigate, based on the information gathered to date, an unauthorized third party
accessed some of your personal information. Your specific information that may have been subject to this breach includes:
Epost interim Property Tax Bill (.pdf version)
We are committed to protecting the personal information in our care and we are taking this matter very seriously. The City of
Toronto has notified the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario of the incident and a full scale investigation into
the incident is underway. You are also entitled to file a complaint with the Information & Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
We recommend that you monitor the possible uses of information involved in the incident.
We have confirmed that the information displayed on the Epost Interim Property Tax Bill, with the exception of the unique

number, property owner name(s), interim bill amounts, etc.). No information related to your personal banking or financial
institution was released. To protect your privacy when using the City of Toronto Property Tax Online Lookup service and to
prevent unauthorized use, your former customer number has been expired and we have assigned a new customer number
to you: ___________. This is a number printed on your previous property tax bills. Please use this new number to access the
Property Tax Online Lookup service from now on.

Glad it doesn't seem like very much sensitive information was leaked in the breach, but how can they be so sure? I wouldn't mind someone paying down my taxes with my roll # lol.

I was not aware of this breach. And what is the use of changing number when it will be public.

Your assessment roll number, assessment value, annual tax bill, and your name as the property owner is already public information.

Hey ...

This is happening to me right now. I am out of the country and I have tried calling several times but the queue is quit long. It's been four days since sending an email as well to no avail.

Did they give you a new number? I am starting to panic.

Do you by any chance have ePost? They sent a letter with a new customer number that way for me. Otherwise I presume it's via snail mail which from my ePost, I guess was sent out sometime in August.

Thank you. I will have to look into it. I am currently on hold with them, still holding at 1 hour and 28 minutes. What is going on? The service was never this bad.

I tried calling them yesterday afternoon and their queue wasn’t even open. The automated message
said they were too busy and I just ended up having to hang up.

When I called them it was pretty bad as well, probably an hour wait. It was only afterwards that they sent the letter regarding the breach.

As Seininya and beermike mentioned above around the end of July 2021, I tried to lookup Property Tax. Not work until I called Toronto 311 today (Thursday).
(Note: Call before 9 am if possible. It took me around more than 1/2 hour the time I called around 9:30 am before I was able to speak with the rep. of Tax Revenue dept. By all means, you may be on hold way longer if you call at the beginning of the week.)

The rep. explained the same thing about the data breach which I never received any notice through e-post or by mail. The rep. provided me with a new Customer Number before the end of the call.
(Tip# 1. Don't bother to try to look up your Property Tax if the system kept telling you the information you entered is in error or incorrect. Just call Toronto.
Tip# 2. Soon the rep. provide you with a new Customer Number, write it down and try to log in [link below] before you hang up with the rep over the phone. Just to be safe. None of us want to call 311 again and were put on hold for hours, right?)
