claim utlities? how long to get refund?

if i split the rent with someone and they listed the full amount on their taxes, can i claim utilities for my taxes if im a uni student? im guessing the answer is no. can we both claim the rent in the full amount or only one of us? how long does it usually take to mail out? cuz im moving out in the middle of may and not sure which address i can use (parents home vs. my apt which i prefer)

Each claim half of the rent... utilities is not counted. If you send by net file, you don't need to send proof of rental paid, etc... Assuming they don't need to audit you and you are accepted for net file, you should receive the refund in 2 weeks.

you have a couple options. if you have receipts you can claim your half of the rent. if he gets audited hes screwed because he doesn't have enough in receipts to cover the amount he claimed.
you can also claim rent anyways and hope you aren't audited. that would be bad.
the third thing you can do is beat your roomie with a club upside the head for screwing you by taking the entire rent deduction.
