Studio Tax is one...
Why can't we all just get along?

I have used Genutax and Studiotax myself for last 5-6 years and I like both. Both do a fine job. Both have options for T4/T5, allow you to claim GST/HST credit, Ontario trillium benefit, RRSP deductions etc. From a basic personal income tax point of view I think they have all the options one need.

I'm another one for voting for SimpleTax. To be fair, I've never used anything else, but I can't imagine anything being easier to use.

Another vote for studio tax; been using it for 9 years. I like that the data is stored on my computer, not in the cloud.

If it's your first time ever filing a personal tax return, and your situation is as simple as you describe, I recommend—don't laugh—doing it on paper and snail mailing it. It's not as arduous as you might think. It used to take me about an hour. When you do it on paper you get a feel for and understanding of how everything works that isn't matched by software doing calculations for you behind the scenes. Do it on paper once and try online filing next year.

I have been using StudioTax but don't find it very helpful for rental income as Form T776 pretty much needs to be done manually (unless I am not using it properly).

This time I am thinking to try out GenoTax or SimpleTax.

Does anyone know if these are compatible with Revenu Quebec also?
I have been doing my taxes manually all these years because, for some reason, I don't trust these computer programs to do it correctly or to keep my information safe. Does anybody else feel the same way?

+1 for Simple Tax. Switched to it a couple years ago after using Quicktax & Turbotax for a while.
Yeah, everything is stored in the cloud, but really great interface and fully compatible with pulling and posting data from/to CRA.

I've used Studio Tax the past 2 Tax Years and received my refunds 2 weeks after submitting to CRA.
Studio Tax works for me.

+1 for StudioTax. Been using it for many years now. Its functionality to deal with moving credits from spouse to spouse can be a bit quirky, though.
