Clueless person needs wifi router

I'm switching from Shaw to Telus gigafiber (the 950-something mb up/down one). Previously I had a shaw rental wifi router that was garbage and I'd like to spend *enough* to avoid drops, get better range, etc. So $100-$+50 I guess?

3 floor townhouse (wood), 2200 sq ft, router on the middle floor, <10 devices, always 3+ things streaming when we're home, no need for fancy parental control suites or bloat.

I don't know if you need anything special to handle fiber vs cable, some help would be appreciated.
