CNN +

CNN + will be a Streaming service.
CNN disclosed the first details of its long-awaited new subscription streaming service Monday, which will launch in the first quarter of 2022 with 8-12 hours of original live content each day.

"The network didn’t provide any specific programming information but Monday’s release made clear it would involve contributions from existing CNN talent as well as entries from the network’s catalog of series and documentaries including past seasons of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.”"

They do have a bunch of interesting legacy content. Maybe they will do a bundle deal with HBO MAX and Discovery to better compete with NF, Disney.

I think it's about who owns the rights to what.
This is where things get complicated.
Will there be a CNN + Canada? Or will it just be the one source, serving USA only, forcing Canadians to get a VPN to watch it?

Need bigger pockets to subscribe to all these broadcasters, getting rid of cable seems to be going the expensive route over time.

Now sure we can save some by sharing streams with family, services are getting louder about closing that down.

Not enough meat on a CNN+ to warrant paying a subscription, get enough news already between CNN, FOX and MSMBC already subscribed to on my cable lineup. That is already enough for this political junkie...with podcasts on top of that including the Ragin cajun James Carville amongst others.

CNN has gone down the opinion entertainment route same as the other competitors, unfortunately controversy ups ratings and sells, and CNN learned that lesson same as the other shows.

yah, I can't watch CNN anymore either. It feels like the same thing as fox news, but on the opposite side of the US political spectrum.

Same here, with their "news" being so politically biased they are changing direction and spending on content "that blurs the line between news and entertainment." If Tucci's Searching For Italy is an example of what's to come I am going to be very interested in watching.

I'm not a Fox news fan myself, but that doesn't stop me from agreeing that there are other news sources out there. MSNBC, to name one.
I like to think CNN was at it's peak when Anderson Cooper was live on location chasing storms, but that's my opinion.

Yeah, I created a hot deals thread about it and it got locked in 3 hours or something because of political views lol

I heard they made some internal changes because their ratings dropped and this won’t be a copy paste of the regular CNN channel, we’ll see.

Any way to sign up in Canada? When I try through the website it says "The service is not available in your area".

Can we subscribe via VPN and watch normally on Apple TV and streaming devices?

I thought it would dump itself somewhere on USTVGO, even if just temporary, to draw attention, but I guess not.
Try an Opera browser with VPN in place. You might have some luck there.
(Opera browser has it's own VPN built in)

if I try to use the iphone app for cnn and click on the cnn+, it shows $7.49 for monthly and $74.9 for 1 year…
changing to US app store shows $5.99 and not $2.99

I just checked HBOMax and I see that some of the CNN+ shows are included with my HBOMax subscription.

I just finished the documentary about Linda Ronstadt and it was very enjoyable.

Yup. $5.99. When you sign up late, that's what happens!
