Company Hiring Same Position Again

I applied for a good position for this company that I saw on Indeed back in January. I went through 3 rounds of interviews (phone and two in person). In the end, HR called me back and told me I didn’t get it. It was basically between me and another candidate who ended up getting it.

Now the thing is while I was going through the interviews, the posting never came off indeed. And I check today again and I see the same posting, but this time it says it was posted a couple of hours ago. Does that mean the other candidate backed out and they are looking again? Should I contact the HR person back? If so, do you think I would have to go through the whole process again? How should I handle this situation?

If the other candidate backed out and the company wanted to hire you, they would've already contacted u

HR is just saying that to make u feel better

Basically company didnt find anyone they liked

I would call the HR and inquire about the position again. See what they have to say. What’s the worse that can happen?

JIB9022 is probably right, but Gee makes a good point. The only risk to calling in is to your ego. There is a chance that they did think of you but assumed you might no longer be available, or that somebody else took over the hiring for this position etc. Can't hurt calling and asking.

I would just drop HR a note saying if the position posted is new and active, that you are still interested in the position. But understand if the hiring manager(s) are seeking a candidate who's qualification are more closely aligned with the requisite they're looking for.

Could be many reasons why it's posted again. The direct report hiring manager may have liked you but a higher up might have not vetoing you. The direct mgr is unlikely to try to push it back up again.

Call em back to see what's up.
From my experience. I worked at a place where I felt over qualified for a supervisor position but 6 people passed me and got promoted. I quit recently. Best thing I ever did for my career
If you really like your job then stay. Otherwise I'd look for work else where. Never be loyal to a company!

If they were interested in you they would contact you. I would let this go. I was told I lost out on the current job I have to someone else. When that person didn't work out, they called me immediately.
