Condo Residence - Who's responsible for what?
Keeping it short, my "grandmother in-law" resides in a rather fancy condo residence in Newmarket. It's essentially an end unit in a townhouse development where each unit is basically a giant bungalow -- definitely catered to older folks. She's not necessarily "all-there" anymore -- we presume early stages of alzheimer's or dementia, so we step in from time to time to help with the housing management.
Not having direct access to her contract, I'm unable to discern some information with regards to who is responsible for what as it pertains to maintenance of the condo. The latest situation is that she's had water leaking in her finished basement. The short of it -- who's responsible for such repairs/investigations? Does it depend condo-to-condo, contract-to-contract?
It doesn't help my situation that I can't understand the local property manager due to a heavy accent. I mention this in case you have any suggestions -- can I ask to speak to someone "above her"?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
