What kind of scam is this? It showed me DSL availability for my 10 year old wireless number. ;)

That availability check is not worth beans. I tested out a Halifax number, and it said everything is hunky dory. Nice if it is true. I also tried a New York number, apparently works there.

No mention on the dry loop cost or if you rent a modem. Ducks are not quite in a row as of yet.

If you click on order, dry loop is $10/month and installation is $100.

If this is legit, I would srsly consider switching over. That $100 installation fee though...I'd probably as them to waive it.

That $32.95 for 25/10 and 500 GB looks like a very good deal. Looks as if it's below what Bell charges the 3rd party ISP's. Too bad the OP wants us be his guinea pigs :)

https://secure.contact.net/plans/full

Even then, I was on 16/1 with Teksavvy and was already experiencing the pain with frequent slow downs. So I'm leery when it comes to picking up a third party ISP with no track record.

EBox rules, two years with them so far, and the worst example of losing service is an hour or so of downtime on about three or four occasions since I joined, yeah they really suck

the company is legit.
we did a background check on them a few weeks ago in the computer forum here.. contact-net-does-anybody-know-about-dsl ... r-1294533/
parent company is AEI internet based out of QC.
also with number portability you cannot rely on number tool checker anymore.
most accurate way is to check your address using either bells address checker via postal code on bell.ca or rogers and cogeco and videotrons on their respective websites.
